Sculpture
An art intervention is designed using this material. The actual water and the sediment that encapsulated heavy metal form a strong material contrast, exposing the heavy cost behind the unregulated leather manufacturing process. In the end, it may evoke public consciousness of blind consumption, and ultimately, change their consumer behavior.
The form is inspired by the river because the river is the embodiment of the contamination and the treated element. The water path and the floating river structure together establishes a direct visual connection between the polluted rivers in manufacturing areas and relatively cleaner rivers in the western consumer countries, contextualizing the issue to bring in the empathy for the audience.
Glass panels will be placed at the both ends of the sculpture as information board. The bioremediation process and the water pollution problem will be demonstrated.
